Aloha Friday #7

Aloha everyone!
It's Friday, which means that over at An Island Life it is time for Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays we take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, she asks a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. Then everyone else asks a simple question of their own blog for others to answer.

Photobucket Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am an AVID reader so this week's question is going to be about reading. You are going to be stuck on a deserted island and only get to take FIVE books with you--which books are you going to take with you and why??

Me? I would first bring along the Bible as it has EVERYTHING--even poetry. The second book would have to be Jane Austen--probably Sense & Sensibility. I have just always enjoyed Austen's writing style (and have read all of her works--even the more obscure books.) The third book would be To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Again-just beautiful writing and a timeless story. Number four would probably be the book I am reading now--Breaking Dawn (just for a contemporary book) and Number Five would be the Velveteen Rabbit (my alltime fave children's story).

Ok..your turn--don't be shy--leave your comments--and Have a Super Weekend :)

Great choices!

My choices would be:

1) Bible
2) The Secret Garden (all time fav. as a child)
3) A Farewell to Arms by Hemingway
4) The Wednesday Letters by Jason F. Wright
5) I can't choose WHICH Nicholas Sparks, but maybe "The Choice" since its one of his happier ending books.

Tough one! I'm thinking of long books here. I'll second the bible, I haven't spent enough time reading that, so why not when I will have tons of time? Gone With The Wind, War and Peace, Whatever the longest book of funny stories is, and how about the latest Harlan Coben for some beachy entertainment. ;-)

This is a tough question. I'm with you on your first couple, the Bible, Jane Austen (definitely Sense and Sensibility) and after that I'd be like that little old man in that really old Twilight Zone - you know the one where he gets locked in the bank vault reading during the end of the world and then comes out to realize he can sit and read forever? And then he breaks his glasses and can't read anything.

1-gospel according to Biff by Chris Moore

2-any dave barry book

3- the longest book I can find that I haven't read yet

4-wuthering heights

5-the bible because it probably fits #3

Gee, this is a tough question for me since our home library is so big, it would be hard to choose just five! I guess if I'm going to be stuck on an island, I'm going to want some light reading to relax--so I'm going to go with Harry Potter and Twilight (do I get to take the whole series?). Then I'll add The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, The Water Method Man, and the Kite Runner

can't i just bring a kindle so i can reload my books when i get bored of the 5?

1. twilight (the first book, not the whole series.if i'm on a deserted island, i'm probably doing enough crying without the other 3 books)
2. the 10th justice by brad meltzer (law, action, suspense)
3. any trashy romance novel (we all need a little spice every so often)
4. the fountainhead by ayn rand (it's long and it's good, and if you haven't read it, you should)
5. the undomestic goddess by sophie kinsella (good for quick, mindless reading)

You ask the impossible. For sure the Bible, The Great Gatsby- my all time fave, but after that I'm stumped. Maybe Gone With the Wind because I love it and it's super long, the DaVinci code for a little suspense, and something funny- maybe Devil Wears Prada? Of course, if you ask me this question again tomorrow- I might have a different list- lol.

WOW..

Haven't done any reading in a very long time... can't find the time..
So, it's open to any 4 books I haven;t read... and the bible.. I'd probably do the twilight series since my hubby can;t stop raving about it, or the dragon trilogy by Christopher Paolini... and anything koontz, saul, or king would do...

What a great question! It would have to be Harry Potter 3-7.

Hmm...probably some books on survival, first aid, and one romance novel. ;-)

It would have to be books by Phillipa Gregory. First they are hella long and they are full of history and smut (apparently history is full of smut).

That and "The Giving Tree." I love that book. Makes me tear up everytime.
