Wordless Wednesday-St. Bernadette

Ok..I know it is called Wordless Wednesday...but I really have to comment on this. This is St. Bernadette. I can not begin to tell you what a truly inspiration she has been to me. Most people probably know about her as the saint whom Mary appeared to at Lourdes. St. Bernadette was extremely shy and very humble. Wordless Wednesday Our Lady of Lourdes

I realize this is supposed to be "Wordless Wednesday" but I thought that this picture really deserved an explanation.

February 11th is Our Lady of Lourdes day. This picture (courtesy of Flickr) is taken in Lourdes and is taken at one of the basicilas. Do you see St. Bernadette kneeling right in front of the image of Our Lady of Lourdes? Isn't that pretty awesome?? A couple of things about this statue. One is that this is a pose taken directly from one of her sessions with Our Lady and the other is that St. Bernadette absolutely hated this statue. She was extremely shy and very humble.
